About Jami

Jami is an educator, birth and postpartum support person, and lactation counselor. At the helm of AustinBorn, she leads a top-notch team of educators with a mission to improve birth and postpartum outcomes by helping families reclaim and redefine their unique path.

Her journey here began with her own triumphs and challenges in becoming a parent. It was filled with the typical expectant and new parent worries, but as the weeks went by it became clear that there were massive gaps in education and support. She felt every ounce of the breastfeeding trauma, the sleepless nights, the isolation (with a deployed partner and family thousands of miles away), the inability to calm her crying baby, feed herself, take a shower, or breathe. She felt it all. And she knew others did, too.

So when some of the postpartum dust settled, she closed her voiceover business and became a lactation educator counselor and birth companion. She built her business on the philosophy that modern, evidence-based education and support was the way to influence positive change in the maternal healthcare system and to help create happier and healthier families. A decade later, she has supported hundreds of families throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
